US software company Red Hat, Inc., acquired by IBM last month for $ 34 billion, announced that it has acquired NooBaa, a Tel Aviv-based startup that is developing software to manage data storage services in hybrid and multilayer environments. NooBaa was founded in 2013 by Yuval Dimnik, its CEO, and Guy Margalit, Eran Tamir and Nimrod Becker. Akamai Technologies Inc., a US provider of cloud services, and Israeli venture capital funds OurCrowd and Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP) are the leading investors and venture capitalists, according to the company's website.

The software solution driven by NooBaa brings agility, flexibility and hybrid capabilities to cloud platforms, says its website. Its technology allows the portability of data from one cloud to another and also allows the data stored in multiple locations to be managed in a single consistent data set. This provides better visibility and control over unstructured data spread across a variety of cloud environments, the Red Hat statement said.
NooBaa's technologies "round out and enhance" Red Hat's hybrid cloud technology portfolio, the company said.
