While Virat Kohli arouses the most fears among Australian fans this summer, the young Prithvi Shaw, young gun, is an unknown for who could cause severe headaches.
Shaw made his test debut last month at the age of 18 and started with a stunning shot, scoring 134 points against the West Indies in Rajkot, followed by 70 and 33 in the next game.
The 19-year-old, who averages more than 60 first-class games, has shown that he's one of India's most exciting hopes since Kohli, with a sparkling score 66 on the second day of the SCG Indian Tour.
Playing in his first game on Australian soil, Shaw played most of his run against Cricket Australia XI. He stood out with a sublime back punch behind the goal and dined out on anything that the fast bowlers delivered.
The right-hander hit 11 feet in total and three of his last four bounds were exquisite drives from both sides.
It was exhilarating to witness and become a worrying warning sign before the first of four field tests this summer in Adelaide next week.
His sleeves ended when he slipped CA XI's leg spinner, Dan Fallins, rolled around his legs after his 69th match.
The legendary Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the youngest Indian to mark a century in Australia at age 18 and 253 days, but Shaw could follow in the footsteps of Little Masters as the second youngest child when he hit three digits against Australians.
The coach of India, Sanjay Bangar, is impressed by the way Shaw improves his game every time he steps down.
"Regardless of the format in which he plays, he scores immediately," Bangar told the press after playing with CA XI 0-24 in response to India's 358.
"Whether in India in different formats, be it the Ranji Trophy, the Duleep Trophy, the Irani Trophy or the Indiana A, wherever he has played, he has shown that he can adapt very well to conditions and at the scene.
"He plays with a lot of clarity and is impressive.
"The clarity of mind and the intrepidity of youth probably help a lot."
