Dar es Salaam. President John Magufuli arrived in Malawi today, April 24, 2019, for a two-day state visit at the invitation of his Malawian counterpart, Peter Mutharika.

Accompanied by his wife, Janet, the president of Magufuli, an Air Tanzania plane (Airbus A220-300) landed at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe shortly before noon, Eastern time.

He was received by his host, President Mutharika.

From the airport, President Magufuli went directly to the mausoleum of former President Bingu wa Mutharika, where he laid a wreath. He then went to the state house where he was to meet with his guest before attending a banquet organized in his honor by President Mutharika later in the evening. , according to a schedule sent to the media organs by the communications directorate of the state house. .

President Magufuli is expected to inaugurate a tobacco market on Thursday, April 25, and to address stakeholders of the goods before concluding his tour in Malawi.

Upon his return, the head of state will begin his eight-day journey in the Mbeya region, the statement said. This is the first time that President Magufuli has traveled abroad outside the countries of the East African Community.
