Welcome to the women's ashes test!

Hello from Taunton! We are about ten minutes from the draw and I come with news from the top. Three Australians are winning their baggy greens today: Ash Gardner, Tayla Vlaeminck and Sophie Molineux. For England, Amy Jones and Kirstie Gordon are about to give it a try.

For visitors, Dan Christian's presence on deck to present Gardner's famous cap was a brilliant touch. Of course, they were captain of the teams that visited England last summer to mark the 150th anniversary of the pioneer Aboriginal Australians who visited this country in 1868. Mitch Starc hosted Vlaeminck, another speedster, at the post while Belinda Clark, interim high performance boss and former skipper, delivered the speech in front of Molineux.

The latter, a big turnaround balloon with his orthodox left arm, will love the look of the field. There was a debate on what constitutes a surface used, but the facts are that it was played for the last time during the match World Cup Afghanistan vs New Zealand on June 8th. Very useful traces are exposed outside the stump for left-handers at the end of the river. We'll see how it all goes.

England needs a good result within four days with a rain forecast for tomorrow. A draw is enough for Australia to retain its trophy after sweeping the ODI by three times two weeks ago, the third spectacularly when Ellyse Perry won 7/22.

I will be back with the formal teams and launch soon. I look forward to your business throughout the day and week in the usual way. Leave me a note.

Nice contact with Dan Christian presenting the green bouffant of Ash Gardner. Tayla Vlaeminck and Sophie Molineux also make their debut, receiving their hats from Mitch Starc and Belinda Clark. Well done. #WomensAshes pic.twitter.com/kAszvXimhy
