OMAHA, Nb. – = An Omaha child appears to be in a vacuum on Wednesday after being examined for possibly having an acute flaccid myelitis.

The Douglas County Department of Health told our sister station WOWT that the young patient met some, but not all, criteria for a confirmed case of MFA.

As of 26 November, 116 confirmed cases had been reported in 31 states.

AFM is described as a polio-like disease that affects the nervous system, particularly the region of the spinal cord.

The possible case of Nebraska was reported to the Douglas County authorities in mid-October.

There is still no confirmed case in the state of Nebraska.
