Africa: Continental Youth Summit begins in Kigali

Rwanda hosts the 7th African Students and Youth Summit, an event that brought together 2,500 delegates from 49 countries across the continent.

Taking place at the Kigali KICV Today until Saturday, the summit will allow African youth to interact with senior government officials and young people to success and deliberate on issues crucial affecting the education sector on the continent.

Organized by the Ministry of Education in partnership with the Ministry of Youth National Youth Council, it is the third time that Rwanda hosts the summit.

The summit is organized by the National Association of Rwandan Students, an umbrella organization that brings together student guild councils in all universities and institutions of higher education in the country.

Under the theme "Pan-Africanism: A paradigm shift towards the achievement of the SDGs and the AU Agenda 2063: the role of young people" The summit will focus on discussions on how young people can be actively involved in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2063 Agenda of the African Union on the back of the Pan African ideology. "The gathering shapes the state of mind of young people. (The) The younger generations must understand that the development of the continent is in their hands and that they are problem solvers. Eustache Ndayisaba, coordinator of the National Association of Rwandan Students, says participants will discuss solutions to the continent's hot issues such as youth unemployment.

He added that it is also a chance for local youth. Innovators expose their products to participants.

"This is a crucial platform for students and young people to deliberate and find solutions to the challenges that hinder their quest for sustainable development for a prosperous Africa," Ndayisaba said. .

Before that, participants will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Genocide Museum Campaign in Parliament, in the ideology of genocide. Delegates will also join other Rwandans in a monthly national community service (Umuganda).
