Arusha. The Arusha International Conference Center (AICC) loses about 1.8 billion shillings a year after the departure of some key tenants from the institution.
More than one third of the 23,000 square meters of the public establishment is empty following the recent dissolution of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).
Some rooms in the historic building have also been vacated after another key tenant since the 1990s, the East African Community (EAC) headquarters. The report, obtained by The Citizen, did not mention any other tenants who retired but stated that the loss of income amounting to 1.8 billion shillings a year was worrying.
