With Extreme Rules over and SummerSlam in five weeks, the construction of the next defense of the Brock Lesnar World Championship is about to resume.
Tonight, WWE set up an angle where Kurt Angle issued an ultimatum to Lesnar. Angle said that, while negotiations had been reopened for Lesnar's next defense, Paul Heyman told him that Lesnar was not interested in coming back right now. Angle issued an ultimatum to Lesnar: he must show up on Raw on Monday or accept a date to defend the title in order to avoid being disavowed.
Angle also referred to the appearance of Lesnar at UFC 226, which WWE avoided Raw last week. Dave Meltzer reported that Lesnar was not featured in the show last Monday because Vince McMahon wanted the focus to be fully on Extreme Rules
As we reported last Thursday, the next match of Lesnar should take place at SummerSlam. A multi-man to decide a challenger for him was originally announced for Extreme Rules, but this was canceled as part of the story where negotiations with Lesnar failed. Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley were two of his top contenders, and Lashley defeated Reigns tonight after touching a spear
Lesnar's next appearance will be the first time he's played at WWE since the Greatest Royal Rumble from April
