Apple signs with LG for the supply of OLED, LCD screens on iPhone 2018 models: Report

Apple is expected to launch three new iPhone X models this year, two with OLED displays and one variant budget with LCD screen. Now, according to a report from Digitimes Apple has signed a contract with LG Display Co to produce three to four million organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays for next generation iPhones. LG would also sell 20 million LCD screens to Apple this year.

The move aims to reduce costs and dependence on Samsung, which was the only supplier of OLED screens for iPhone X last year. Apple sold 216 million devices in total in 2017. Last month, Bloomberg reported that the agreement was about to be finalized. LG is also working to increase its capacity to produce 10 million OLED display units, according to the Digitimes report .

The Apple iPhone 2018 alignment should include an entry-level level of 6.1- LCD phone or iPhone 9, as well as iPhone X Plus and iPhone X 2018 with OLED screen of 6, 5 inches and 5.8 inches respectively. According to Luke Lin, senior analyst at Digitimes Research, the iPhone X 2018 could sell at a slightly lower price than its predecessor iPhone X through lower production costs.

The 6.5-inch high-end iPhone model could be the most expensive variant of thee's new iPhones expected this year. The KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi-Kuo, expects a price of about 1000 dollars, or about 68 800 rupees to conversion. The iPhone LCD variant is expected to be priced at around $ 700 (Rs approximately 48,000), while the 5.8-inch OLED model is set at around 800.

Apple iPhone X Plus is supposed to come with dual-SIM capabilities. The phone will sport two rear cameras vertically stacked and will have 4 GB of RAM compared to last year 's iPhone X which had 3 GB of RAM. The affordable LCD variant should sport a design similar to that of the original iPhone X, with a notch for the Face ID feature. However, there will be Touch ID or 3D Touch on this phone, it will have simple rear cameras. The third model of iPhone for 2018 comes with Face ID, two rear cameras, and more. The three new iPhones should be powered by Apple's A12 chip and continue with the design of glass and metal.
