Bayer examines options for animal health and some mainstream brands

FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Bayer announced Thursday that she was considering strategic options for her Coppertone sunblock brand and Dr. Scholl foot care products, and will also depart from her animal health division.

The German drug manufacturer, which acquired Monsanto this year, also said it would seek a buyer for its 60% stake in the German supplier of chemical production site services, Currenta.

As part of a cost reduction program that will also target synergies expected from the Monsanto acquisition, Bayer will eliminate approximately 12,000 of its 118,200 jobs worldwide.
