By-elections in Tanzania – Runner Chadema excluded from seat

Songwe – Electoral Representatives at the Songwe Regional Council disqualified candidate Chadema for the Mpona Ward by-election Iskaka Mlonge following an objection approved by his CCM counterpart, Michael Siwingwa. he was satisfied with the grounds for disqualification proposed by the CCM candidate. He has since announced that Mr. Siwingwa was Mpona's unopposed advisor.

The executive director of the Songwe Regional Council, Elias Newala, told Mwananchi Digital that they had followed the proper protocol to make the decision to expel Chadema's candidate

Both candidates took forms , brought them back safely, then they had the opportunity to raise objections, "he said.

At that time, CCM filed an objection that the commission was "satisfied". with "according to Mr. Newala, however, he could not comment on the reasons given in the complaints filed by CCM against Mr. Mlonge.

Chadema's secretary for Songwe Meshack Mgaya confirmed that his candidate for the post of counselor of Mpona had been expelled, however, he maintained that the objections raised by their opponents were unfounded.

Despite the fact that Chadema responded to the commission's letter, their candidate was still invited to resign , according to Mr. Mgaya, who added that he has appealed to the National Electoral Commission (NEC) and is waiting for an answer.
