Police have asked to continue to detain for 14 days a woman who fled Dubai after supposedly stole 140 million shillings in order to carry out her investigations.
In an affidavit filed before Senior Magistrate Milimani Benson Nzioka by the Criminal Investigations Branch, the detectives need days because of the complexity of Rebecca Mueni's case.
The suspect was arrested Tuesday night at the Namanga Border Control while she was trying to move to Tanzania.
Detective Emmanuel Ngetich, presenting the suspect to the magistrate, the Foreign Ministry wrote to the police on May 15 that Mueni, with others not in court, left Dubai on March 4 with 140 millions of shillings stolen.
"The DCI launched investigations and alerted immigration officials to put suspects on the control of the movements.On 3 July, Rebecca Mueni was arrested at the Namanga Border Control while at the same time". she was trying to cross the border into Tanzania, "he said.
He added that a search of the residence of the suspect Kamulu in Kangundo Street revealed 13 130 000 000 shillings, the source of which could not be counted.
The suspects allegedly stole money from a company named Transuard to fill an ATM machine at Dierra City Mall in Dubai.
The magistrate has detained her until today to rule on DCI's application.
