The UN Executive Director for the Environment (UNEP) resigned after an official travel audit by the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services criticized the agency for its "culture of poor compliance with internal controls" and existing rules "on the use of public funds. Last week, Tanzanian microbiologist and former World Bank graduate Joyce Msuya took on the role of acting chief of UNEP.
