Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (AP) – Ethiopian Airlines has once again won the trophy for the best 2018 airlines in Africa, for the 7th year in a row, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Ethiopian received this award in recognition of its "outstanding financial performance at the 50th Annual General Meeting of the African Airline Association in Rabat, Morocco," said the source.
Tewolde GebreMariam, CEO of Ethiopia, received the award, noting that "this award recognizes the ongoing efforts and hard work of Ethiopian employees, who are very committed to the extraordinary success of our airline."
The award also demonstrates "the strength of Ethiopian Airlines' Vision 2025's fast, profitable and sustainable growth plan and associated business model," said Tewolde.
He expressed gratitude to the customers for their continued feedback and support, which was a critical success factor for the continuous improvement of Ethiopian's award-winning customer service.
The director of Ethiopian Airlines said the group had set a record in terms of key financial statistics for the 2017/2018 fiscal year.
Ethiopian Airlines is the largest aerospace group in Africa, followed by Kenya Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Nigerian Airways and South African Airways.
Raila Odinga, High Representative of the African Union for Infrastructure Development, said Monday that these five people were the leading companies at the forefront of boosting intra-African trade of genuine direct flights.
