The Kenya High Court on Thursday ordered the government to pay Ksh 6.3 billion to companies to compensate for their property destroyed during the post-election violence.
A number of Ugandan and Rwandan companies have taken legal action against the government following the post-election violence that followed the 2007 general election.

Justice Mbogholi Msagha who also noted that the government had tried to settle the case amicably in 2010, after which it denied its responsibility in the losses.

In the judgment of the Ministry of Justice Msagha, 15 firms will share 4.7 billion shillings while Mr. Mgenga, who has filed a separate claim, will receive Sh 1.62 billion in compensation.
The judge also ordered that each trader be compensated for the loss of each truck on a period of six years 15% of the value of the truck
