Mwalimu and Lugola will attend the funeral of victims of the road to Mara

Tarime Two ministers are expected to attend the burial of 15 of the 16 victims of two suburban transport vehicles, which collided in the village of Komaswa, Tarime district.

Senior government officials include Minister of Health, Community Development, Gender, Older Persons and Children, Ummy Mwalimu and Minister of Home Affairs Kangi Lugola.

Passenger vehicles traveling on the Musoma-Tarime and Tarime-Busurwa lines in the Rorya district were involved in a frontal collision on Monday, 26 November, and caught fire.

Mara Regional Commissioner Adam Malima said the preparations, including burials and caskets for the burial, were complete.

Other expected participants include district commissioners from almost all Mara districts as well as religious and political leaders.

In the accident, 15 people died on the spot, leaving four survivors, one of whom died en route to the hospital.

According to reports from the region, 14 victims will be buried in pits located in an area. The other two bodies were collected by relatives to be buried after identification.

Tarime District Commissioner Glorious Luoga said other preparations included taking samples of victims' remains for DNA testing to simplify the identification process.

He specified that the graves will be numbered in correspondence with the numbers assigned to the respective samples and that the relatives will be given the graves after the results of the test.

According to him, the deceased persons belonging to different religions, the tombs will not carry symbols associated with religions.

"Only special cards containing important information will be inserted into each grave. The information will include numbers that will simplify identification once the results of DNA are known, "he said.
