Vivo is about to unveil the successor of its impressive Nex phone without bezel, according to a leak of Ben Geskin – and if its information is accurate, we could have a pretty convincing device to look forward to.
Based on the rendered images – and this secret disbursement from YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss below, it would appear that the Nex 2 gets displays in the front and back, much like the recent Nubia X. A screen will be free of edges an LED ring takes up space near the top of the other screen.
While the previous Nex was famous for its front camera appeared from the top of the camera (in order to allow a display without bezel), it would appear that this model features a time-of-flight scanner capable of capturing models. 3D of everything in front of his three cameras.
It maps objects by emitting light pulses, then measuring the time taken by the return of light within a radius of three meters, allowing applications such as high fidelity facial recognition and augmented reality experiments. Vivo introduced this technology earlier this year and it will be interesting to see if it will arrive soon on a commercially available device.
It is unclear what this LED ring is for, but it could possibly be part of the time-of-flight scanning system.
Vivo is expected to introduce a new device in December. I therefore hope that we will soon learn about the work of the company. Stay tuned for Plugged for our coverage.
