DUNMORE, Pa. – A sophomore in Pennsylvania who had been diagnosed with leukemia feared being bullied after losing her hair as a result of chemotherapy.

Luca Burgio did not have to worry. In a gesture of solidarity, 10 of her classmates volunteered to shave their heads at a party, reported WNEP.
"I was so happy, I did not worry anymore and everything was fine," said 8-year-old Luca to the TV channel.

"It's more than anything I could have expected from these 7- and 8-year-olds. It's really amazing, "said Tori Donahue, Luca's mother, at the WNEP.
Dunmore police officer Anthony Cali also had his head shaved.
"When I heard the kids do it, it hurt my heart. That's what Dunmore is all about. It's a very united community, "Cali told WNEP.
"It makes me feel not alone at all," Luca told the TV channel.
Luca will receive chemotherapy treatment over the next three months in Philadelphia.
