Masahiro Sakurai revealed that buyers who would get a physical version of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will have to download a patch of the first day on December 7th.
The director of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Masahiro Sakurai, revealed in his recent column on Famitsu, that it would be a Day 1 update for buyers of physical versions of Smash Ultimate. Digital buyers will not have to download the update and the size of the initial download is not clear.
This is what Sakurai had to say in full "We will distribute our first update on launch day. Players who purchased the digital version do not have to worry, but players who purchased the physical version must apply this day-one patch before playing. This will also prevent your replays from not following the right path. By the way, if you record your reruns as videos, you can keep them indefinitely, but note that they take up a lot of space!"Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be launched exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on December 7th.
