The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will pay tribute to the victims of the helicopter crash outside the Leicester City Stadium during a visit to the city.

Club President Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four other people died when the plane broke down on 27 October.

The couple will then visit the crash site, meet with players and learn about the existence of charitable organizations supported by Mr. Vichai, before traveling to the University of Leicester.

Prince William and Catherine will meet with club staff and volunteers who have helped to relocate the thousands of tributes made outside King Power Stadium.

During their visit to the university, they hear about some educational programs to which the club has contributed, including a gift of £ 1 million from Mr. Vichai in May to fund research and training in medicine.

Prince William, president of the Football Association, personally knew Mr. Vichai and had previously described him as a man "dedicated to his family".

Vice President of Leicester City and Mr. Vichai's son, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, said it was an "honor" to host the royal couple at King Power Stadium.

He added, "The fact that their Royal Highnesses go to town to pay tribute to themselves is a remarkable gesture of compassion towards the families of those who lost their lives, the staff and players of the club and the townspeople been touched by my dad. "

Staff members Mr. Vichai – Kaveporn Punpare and Nusara Suknamai – pilot Eric Swaffer and his partner, Izabela Roza Lechowicz, also a qualified pilot, were also killed in the accident.

Initial findings show that the helicopter did not respond to the pilot's command, said the air accident investigation branch earlier this month.

Tuesday night, Leicester beat Southampton 6 to 5 on penalties to allow Manchester City to qualify for a quarterfinal of the Carabao Cup.
