The Tanzania Investment Center (TIC), in collaboration with pension funds, intends to establish industrial parks in the country to promote the government's ambitious dream of turning the country into an industrial economy.

Geoffrey Mwambe and his management team met with pension fund managers in Dar es Salaam, at a strategic meeting to set up the industrial parks.

The meeting took place after a thorough evaluation conducted by TIC, which found Mr. Mwambe said at the meeting that the goal of TIC was to make sure that more investors put in places projects without incurring obstacles. and that many investors lacked several services, including the availability of investment land, as is the case in many countries around the world.

The institutions that participated in the strategic meeting include ICT, PSPF, NSSF, LAPF and At the meeting, an economist from the PSPF, Hamidu Ngororo welcomed the new plan and asked TIC to engage the private sector, which has a role to play in encouraging investment.

Xavier Lukuvi, Acting Director of Planning, Investment and Projects at the NSSF, emphasized the need to build sustainable infrastructure in all areas where industrial parks will be created.

But, PPF Research and Planning Manager, Benedict Mahona proposed that it is necessary to conduct a pilot study in a few areas to test the efficiency of industrial parks, before embarking on the implementation plan throughout the country. 9009] The meeting agreed that there should be a committee of experts that involves all stakeholders to oversee the implementation of the ambitious plan and that ICT should intensify collaboration with local government authorities ( LGA), which will allocate specific areas

The meeting further proposed that a feasibility study be conducted so that appropriate advice can be given in areas where ICT intends to. establish its industrial parks, among others.
