Tanzania: Locals Prepared for SGR Training

Dar es Salaam – The government has launched the second round of training for 144 local engineers who will operate the Standard Gauge railway project.

"This is the result of a series of trainings for our local experts: Already 102 people have followed the short training," said Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communication Isack Kamwelwe, Monday, November 26, at the official launch of the training.

According to him, the third batch would start anytime before the end of this year and 167 will be formed. There will be ten lots in total.

"Turkish experts have arrived in the country to organize the training of local experts, and local experts will be sent to South Korea, India, China, South Africa and Turkey," he said.

He said that the goal of training local experts in the country is to reduce costs.

Tanzania Railways Corporation Managing Director Masanja Kadogosa mentioned some of the courses on telecommunication systems, planning management, test management, rolling stock, control systems and systems engineering. .
