For the first time in the country, President John Magufuli yesterday met with former government leaders at State House to exchange views on various issues.
A statement released by State House said former guest leaders at the State House including former heads of state, Benjamin Mkapa, Alhaj Ali Hassan Mwinyi and former Zanzibar President, Aman Abeid Karume .
The former prime ministers present were David Msuya, John Malecela, Joseph Warioba (Judge), Salim Ahmed Salim, Frederick Edward Lowaye Sumaye and Peter Mizengo Pinda

President Magufuli said that he had decided to invite former leaders to the State House in recognition of their contribution. and the development of Tanzania.
He said that he was happy to meet them and that he was anxious to benefit from their wisdom.
"I need the wisdom of the elders … it's the main reason to invite you here, but again, I missed you, I remembered you", said the head of state.
He added: "You have done a very good job for this nation, we are very proud of you … I hope that someday I could be like you."
There he added that among the issues he would like to discuss with former leaders, there was a briefing on what his government had been doing for the past two years.

President Magufuli said that it might be difficult for him to meet everyone privately and that this meeting at the State House gives them a good platform to exchange ideas and share wisdom
