STAKEHOLDERS said yesterday that Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) should have full autonomy over national broadband ownership for national security and avoid loss of revenue.
Infrastructure Committee visited the TTCL pavilion at the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair. The Chairman of the Committee (MP Mpanda Rural), Mr. Selemani Kakoso, said that there should be an operator who controls the international gateway to ensure that revenues for outgoing communications and incoming are actually collected.

The government should only benefit from the tax-inclusive dividend as long as the policies that direct the company to do so – the issuance of the dividend. The committee continued to advise the company to focus primarily in rural areas as they are highly populated.
Rural populations not only need communications but also contribute to the national economy through taxes. The committee also advised all TTCL customers to pay their debts in order to make telecoms work better.
Waziri Kindamba, General Manager of TTCL, told the committee that the arrears were more than $ 80 billion.
