Tanzania: MPs want full autonomy for Ttcl

STAKEHOLDERS said yesterday that Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) should have full autonomy over national broadband ownership for national security and avoid loss of revenue.

Rural populations not only need communications but also contribute to the national economy through taxes. The committee also advised all TTCL customers to pay their debts in order to make telecoms work better.

Waziri Kindamba, General Manager of TTCL, told the committee that the arrears were more than $ 80 billion.
