Students from the UNIVERSITY of Dodoma (UDOM) created a computer system to monitor the progress of premature babies in incubators and another to automatically count people entering and exiting occupied buildings .
The largest university in the country is the computerized system for detecting toxic gases in homes and workplaces. In an interview at the 13th exhibition on Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, promising scientists presented their inventions to people who visited the fair in Dar es Salaam.
A third-year student is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Physics. Prosper Mshama explained that the computer system incubating premature babies will allow health practitioners to monitor the progress of premature babies even if the nurses are out of their ward.
"Health practitioners have faced a great challenge. Premature babies in health facilities … this system will allow them to monitor the progress and conditions of babies in incubators without being physically there, "he explained.
Mshama said that the computerized system has many benefits, including: timely notification when the baby has a problem because it will immediately alert nurses and doctors. The innovator was optimistic that the system will dramatically improve the care of premature babies and reduce the number of deaths.

Another UDOM student, Pius Mwikola, who earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics, explains that he has created the digital automatic display system, able to digitally count people who enter congested areas and succeed

He explains that in case a student uses the phone, in mode, he will block it automatically. John Massawe, another physics student, talked about his invention of a device for detecting harmful gases in the environment.
"This device will play an important role in reducing air pollution, mainly responsible for climate change," he explained. He added; "The system will be able to record and alert people in households and factories in case of toxic gas in the area."
The student said that they decided to create the system to support the country's industrialization campaign, which will result in factories emitting harmful gases to the environment. "It will therefore allow the government to understand factories producing toxic gases and to take precautionary measures," he said.
In addition to reducing air pollution, Mr. Massawe said they had designed the project to reduce cancer and lung disease. which results from harmful gases.
