The Jeep Gladiator is a brilliant outdoor truck

The Jeep van is back! And this is called the gladiator. Yes, the gladiator. With the other fabulous nomenclature of the FCA group (Demon, Hellcat and Trackhawk), we approve this name with great success.

Based on the same chassis as the last Wrangler, the Gladiator is nothing less than an absolute beast. Counting almost a meter more than an equivalent of the Wrangler double-cab cabin – and featuring a 1.5-meter bed – it's a dream for cargo enthusiasts. Not convinced? Well, it is also capable of carrying loads up to 725 kg and has a huge towing capacity of 4,370 kg. That's enough to tow boats, ATVs and – as you can see in the gallery above – an old Jeep Wagoneer.

Built by America's greatest off-road enthusiasts, it should be able to all the field when you go off the beaten track, just like little brother Wrangler. The Glad will be offered with a 3.6-liter V6 petrol engine or a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine, connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. Unfortunately, the results are not yet known, probably because we are still waiting for the second whistle of John Anderson.

Depending on the specifications you choose, two different four-wheel drive systems are available. Both systems will offer permanent torque management and the Gladiator will be equipped with electric locks for front and rear axles, a sliding differential, an electronic link bar, 17-inch wheels, all-wheel tires 33-inch pitch and a 11.1-inch ground clearance. News that will undoubtedly stimulate the mud-muddy emulators.

Better than that, you can also peel it like an orange and peel the roof, doors and windshield if you really want to see and smell the elements. Then you can use this whole room and fill it with outdoor items such as kayaks, bikes or a tray filled with climbing gear to climb El Capitan. Or, if you are not outdoors, go shopping.

Although the angles of approach are the same as those of the current Wrangler, all this extra length at the back means that the tilt angle (20.3 degrees) and the angle of departure (11.1 degrees) had to suffer. However, since the wading pool depth is 762 mm, if you are too lazy to pull the kayaks out of the rack, you can simply send the car along the river.

The Gladiator is the product of overwhelming demand from consumers for a load-carrying model for the first time since the burial of the former Comanche in the early nineties . And we think Jeep rejected the park's request. As a gladiator, he will undoubtedly have his vengeance, in this life or in the next. All we know is that we are eager to try it.
