New research shows that wild bees are essential for producing larger and better blueberry yields, with more fleshy berries and faster ripening. This study is the first to show that wild bees improve not only the amounts of blueberries, but also size and other quality factors. It shows that they produce a larger size of berries (12%), a quantity (12%), uniformity of size (11%) and earlier harvests – of two and a half days.
