Thirty-three years after the publication of The Handmaid's Tale, the author Margaret Atwood is expected to release a sequel.
The follow-up, called The Testaments, takes place 15 years after the last scene of the character Offred, Atwood said in a tweet Wednesday. It will be told by three female characters.
The servant's tale, including a dystopian novel, was adapted for Hulu and drew the first major emmy of the platform in 2017 for an exceptional drama series.
Atwood said she was inspired by the questions she had about Gilead's fictional scenario, but also about the "world we live in".
The Testament is scheduled for September 2019.
