Mary Auma Oliech, the mother of former Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech, passed away. Auma died Friday at her home in Lavington, Nairobi.
Nickson Onywanda, older brother and manager of Oliech, confirmed the death of his mother and said that his body had been transferred to the Umash Funeral Home.
"She got sick and we were preparing to take her to the hospital, but she died before we could do that," Onywanda said.
Despite having a famous son, the late Auma was also popular in her own right and was well known for her finger licking food at Mama Oliech's famous restaurant that she headed.
Five years ago she was diagnosed with cancer and spent nearly a year in treatment in Paris where Oliech was playing football.
Last year, she had to go out and defend her son because of reports that he had fallen into the bad days.
