The 2018 Tour de France could be the most intriguing edition of the years. Many years. Let's quickly go over the reasons.
- Chris Froome is in the running to join the Five Jersey Jersey Club, matching the non-asterisk record.
- Speaking of asterisks, Froome was briefly ruled out of the Tour because of a miraculous doping investigation. He was whitened five days before stage 1.
- Froome also has a win in the legs of the Giro d'Italia, which should make him tired and more vulnerable than ever before to the opponents. – Romain Bardet, Nairo Quintana, Vincenzo Nibali, Adam Yates, Richie Porte, Tom Dumoulin and many others – all with varied skills and an incessant thirst to overthrow Froome.
- They will ride a course that throws light on kilometers of time trial and it is full of pebbles and new steep climbs that will test all disciplines of the rider.
This will be a dramatic tour on and off-road, from Noirmoutier-en-l Ile to Paris and the Champs-Elysées. . Here's how to look at all this.
Map of the Tour's official website:
This year, the Tour de France starts in France – removing the recent tradition of starting a foreign country – but Brittany can feel like another country. The first week is relatively tamed up to stage 9, where runners take pavements en route to Roubaix. From there, a long transfer to the Alps, where the rider will face Alpe d'Huez on stage 12, then the Pyrenees, which includes a 17-kilometer canyon-breath of 65 kilometers that promises to be one of the most unique days of the race that we have seen for decades.
