Dar es Salaam. Sunflower stakeholders say that the wrong technologies and sunflower seeds affect the production and processing of the crop that produces cooking oil and animal feed.
They want more strategies to improve crop productivity. Speaking at the 42nd International Trade Fair in Dar es Salaam (DITF), the president of the Tanzania Sunflower Transformation Association Ringo Iringo said that there was no proportion between the production and transformation.

" There is a challenge especially in the kind of seed varieties that farmers currently use, "he said.
He revealed that the association was conducting research with farmers. In South Africa, sunflower seed production was found to be 970 000 tonnes and the forest stand had 500 000 tonnes of oil.

of seeds every year, asking the government to grant a 23 billion Sh subsidy for production
"The government has imposed a tax on imports of crude palm oil and we must make sure not to let it go. We need to establish a strategy that will produce high quality seeds, "he said.
