HARARE, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) – The Zimbabwe Post-Election Violence Investigation Commission has completed its process of collecting oral evidence during public hearings on Tuesday.
Commission spokesman John Masuku told ZBC public television on Wednesday that testimonies, most of which were broadcast live on ZBC television and social media, were heard by different people and organizations in Harare. , Bulawayo, Gweru and Mutare.
Masuku said the commission had also received written evidence as well as audio and video material, including international broadcasters.
He added that the commission was collecting and analyzing the information gathered and had already begun compiling its final report and recommendations for presentation to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Masuku said the commission, chaired by former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe, was working day and night to present his report before the 90-day deadline.
President Mnangagwa was sworn in on September 19 at the seven-member commission. He was given three months to write a report on the violence that took place in Harare on 1 August, resulting in the deaths of six civilians and material damage. .
