Last week, Minneapolis-based Target revealed that its online sales jumped 155% in the three months to Oct. 31, with consumers relying heavily on their computers and smartphones to find holiday gifts.

A few months earlier, Target had recorded the strongest quarterly revenue growth, including a spike in online sales, in its 58-year history. Online sales nearly tripled in the three-month period ended August 1, while comparable store sales climbed 10.9%.
