Payment records, the website and Target's mobile application were taken offline for a short time Tuesday afternoon, the third time in three months that a technical problem was affecting its buyers.
The outage was brief and did not disrupt purchases as was the long closure of June 15th.
"Due to a payment processing issue, some TARGET guests have been temporarily unable to make purchases at Target stores and Target.com," the company said in a statement. "In less than an hour, our technology teams have identified and begun to address the problem in order to limit the impact on our customers."
Target said the difficulty was not related to the security of its systems. He also apologized to customers.
As the word of the breakdown has spread around 15 hours. In Minnesota's time, targeted buyers accessed social media to share their experiences. Some said Target's employees were distributing sweets and coupons at Starbucks outlets in their stores as customers waited.
Downdetector.com, a website that tracks Twitter accounts of business system failures, has recorded a spike of about 1,100 tweets about Target issues.
