Taste test: McDonald’s McRib doesn’t live up to the hype

McDonald’s has finally brought back its polarizing McRib sandwich.

For a limited time starting December 2, McDonald’s customers across the country can get their hands on McRib, a sandwich made from seasoned boneless pork tenderloin dipped in barbecue sauce, topped with onions and pickles. and served on a toast.

The McRib first came out in 1981. However, after four years, it was taken off the chain’s menu. It returned in 1989 and again in 2012. However, just as quickly as it returned, the menu item has once again disappeared, only to temporarily return to some cities over the years.

During the coronavirus pandemic, brands from Burger King to KFC appear to be leaning into nostalgic marketing in an attempt to attract customers who want something familiar and heartwarming.

For many McDonald’s customers, the McRib sandwich covered in barbecue sauce delivers just that. Legions of McRib fans have pleaded with the fast food chain to bring the menu item back nationwide for years, but with little success, according to a previous Business Insider report. Now, these fans’ requests have finally been answered.
