Taylor Farms Illinois, Inc. recalls bacon quiche products due to poor branding and undeclared allergens

WASHINGTON, June 9, 2019 – Taylor Farms Illinois, Inc., a Chicago, Illinois, facility recalls approximately 50 kg of cheese and bacon quiche products due to poorly labeled allergens and undeclared allergens, announced today the United States Food Inspection and Safety Service. The product contains eggs, a known allergen, which are not declared on the product label.

The Jarlsberg cheese and bacon quiche products were manufactured on June 5, 2019. The following products are likely to be recalled: [View Labels (PDF only)]

  • 10 oz. individual plastic containers containing "JARLSBERG & BACON QUICHE" with lot code TFIL156A001 and "USE BY: 06/11/19".

The products concerned by the recall bear the establishment number "EST. 21794 "inside the USDA inspection mark. These items were shipped to retail outlets in Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia.

The problem was discovered on June 8, 2019 when Taylor Farms Illinois, Inc. informed FSIS that the wrong label of the bottom package had been applied to the product.

No cases of adverse effect related to the consumption of these products has been confirmed. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider.

FSIS is concerned that some products may end up in consumer refrigerators. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely performs recall effectiveness checks to verify that recalling companies are notifying their customers and that steps are being taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers.
