Clever Billboard Taylor Swift manipulator took a break from the political brawl at the end of July to release their new album Folklore, but just before that she was expressing her support for the Black Lives Matter protesters and join the call for America’s dumbest, ugliest and most racist monuments to be demolished. Today, Taylor Swift is back in politics and she uses her Twitter page to urge her followers to join in a controversial form of political subterfuge called “voting.” Apparently this “vote” could be a way to bring down Donald Trump, and to make this plan as successful as possible, Swift even wants her fans to vote early by asking postal ballots.
Naturally, Trump is actively trying to undermine this approach by not so silently dismantling the USPS, which theoretically makes it more difficult to collect and count mail-in ballots as his administration faces charges of withholding billions of dollars in. USPS funding simply because Trump is willing to do whatever he can to steal the next election. Either way, you probably already know all about this stuff, since this USPS drama has been big news for a while now, but Taylor Swift tweeting about it is a good way to keep it in mind. public and perhaps draw attention to this for people who otherwise might not follow politics – although, as is increasingly the case, being a Taylor Swift fan requires a certain level of political commitment.
A pessimist might point out that there isn’t much to do, even if it is Taylor Swift, since we have stupidly entrusted our elected officials with trivial things like … making sure the elections are held, handling the mail and preventing politicians from trying to block any of these important processes in the name of their own insatiable greed. But hey, stuff like Taylor Swift asking her Twitter followers to vote early can’t hurt, so that’s cool. Who knows, maybe things will work out.
