Taylor Swift Teases Phoebe Bridgers and Chris Stapleton “Red” Collaborations

Taylor Swift is apparently inviting Phoebe Bridgers as a guest guest for her upcoming album “Red (Taylor’s Version)” – not according to a press release, but according to a word puzzle the superstar posted on social media Thursday morning.

Chris Stapleton and Ed Sheeran also appear to be confirmed as guests. Sheeran’s involvement was already known – he appeared on the original album “Red,” and recently said in an interview that he re-recorded his duet part – but Stapleton joins Bridgers in the surprise department.

As Swift did before the release of “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” – the first of her full remakes of her Big Machine catalog albums – the singer took to her Instagram and Twitter accounts with a video containing what appears to be a random jumble of letters for fans to decode. Within this word salad are song titles and guests for the bonus “Vault” tracks, consisting of songs written during the period but never released, intended to be released as new recordings.

Some clues were more difficult for the Swifties to decode than others. But the name of Bridgers? Swift didn’t make it too much of a challenge. When you take the whole sequence of lines of letters that appear in the video clip and stack them up and down, the letters of “Phoebe” line up in the left column. Even more obvious, “Bridgers” goes left to right on the next row.

Stapleton’s name took a little longer to come up; the letters “Stapleton” appear backwards on the bottom line of the puzzle.

The words “Better” and “Man” also appear in the puzzle. City to be covered in 2016.

Likewise, the word “Babe” appears, a likely indication that Swift fans will be able to hear her perform a song by that title which she gave Sugarland to record (and added her own backing vocals) in 2018.

Swift’s only no-riddle comments on the post read: “* taps the post *… * giggles maniacally *… Level: casually cruel in the name of honesty.”

“Red (Taylor’s Version)” was announced in June for release on November 19. So far, the only information Swift has released on this is that it will consist of 30 songs, and that it will include one 10-minute song, possibly the legendary 10-minute version of fan favorite “All Too Well” .

Just in case there is any doubt about that last track, the puzzle includes all of the words from “All Too Well Ten Minute Version”.

A CD version of the upcoming set has been pre-ordered simultaneously with the release of the Word Puzzle; promised in the middle of the package are the lyrics of nine previously unrecorded Vault tracks.
