Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” Quickly Breaks Previous Spotify Record

Taylor Swift’s surprise release of a re-recorded version of “Wildest Dreams” quickly caught the interest of fans on Friday. Just over four hours after releasing his new rendition of the seven-year-old song on DSP on Friday, he broke the 2 million play mark on Spotify.

This impressive first number for “Wildest Dream (Taylor’s Version)” easily surpassed previous records for the most plays of the original version of the song on Spotify in a single day, which had been set and reset this week. On Wednesday, the Big Machine-owned recording from 2014 rose significantly as the song racked up 735,000 plays. On Thursday it peaked again, at 750,000. But those numbers fell short of the Swifties’ thrill of getting a new version and quickly establishing new margins.

Interest in “Wildest Dreams” – the OG version – had grown earlier in the week, regardless of any known plans to release a new version, thanks to the song’s sudden popularity on TikTok. Over the past 12 months, Spotify’s daily plays for Big Machine’s “Wildest Dreams” have been indicative of a continued modest popularity for the song, hovering just below or above 400,000 plays per day as high as recently. The peak at around 700,000 per day, due to the TikTok trend, was pretty steep.

News of the release of a new recording of the song came as a surprise to the Swifties as they woke up on Friday, as fans expected a teaser to arrive anytime for the album “Red ( Taylor’s Version) “, which is in the works – to order and release the weekend before Thanksgiving. Although it is known that Swift had also worked on her remake of the album “1989”, and perhaps even had the finished project in the box, there would have been no reason for her to release a track from. this one before releasing anything of the remake “Red”, unless fate intervenes, as it did with the TikTok phenomenon “Wildest Dreams”.

In a later separate TikTok video, she posted images of herself in non-glam fashion in overalls with the caption: “You set a date in November with Red, but someone mentions 1989.” She assigned a distracted look, then the video was cut for her in a more glamorous fashion, with bright red lipstick and sunglasses, “1989” imagery style, winking on camera as the new version of “Wildest Dreams” played.

In its original version from seven years ago, “Wildest Dreams” reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Mainstream Top 40 and Adult Top 40 charts.

“Red (Taylor’s Version)” is scheduled for release on November 19. Although the album is on pre-order, no single from this collection has yet been released. Fans will likely have to wait until at least next year to get the full “1989” makeover, as Swift hasn’t indicated if this album will come even after “Red” in the re-recording rollout.
