The Mobile World Congress will kick off this week and smartphone companies plan to introduce many new phones with a slim body, unusual cameras and maybe a little 5G. In addition, flexible phones are now one thing.
Samsung started things a bit early. Huawei brings one to the party. And we had already seen some renderings of TCL prototypes. Thanks to @evleaks, we now have our first look at the real thing.

It seems that TCL will display several different designs, including a phone that folds in half as a wallet, so that a tablet-sized screen folds back on itself. It is the one that most resembles Samsung's Galaxy Fold smartphone and it may have a similar secondary screen that allows you to use the device as a phone, even folded.
Another prototype is an extra-long device (or big, I guess) that folds like an old-school flip phone. It looks a bit like the design of the Moto Razr flexible phone that has been filtered … but with a huge void near the center of the phone, where the crease is. It looks like a Microsoft Surface Book when it bends … but worse.
There may also be other designs. Rumor has it that TCL has a phone that goes on the wrist to become a smart watch, for example.
According to the signal shared by Blass, TCL presents its flexible devices as "concepts" rather than as finished products. But it is possible that the company uses the "Dragon Hinge" in real products later this year. I suspect that the decision to do so has already been made … or may depend on how competing devices like the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X are selling.
TCL, by the way, does not usually sell phones under its own brand name. But the company produces phones sold under the names Alcatel and BlackBerry in the United States and elsewhere.
