Parents at a Southern California elementary school request that four staff members be fired after photographing them posing and smiling with a noose.
The director of Summerwind Elementary School is also among their targets, after sending the photo by email to all school staff with the enigmatic "Partition Room 223", according to NBC News.
The photo has been shared hundreds of times on emails and social media.
The five were put on administrative leave while the district was investigating.
"The Palmdale School District places the highest standards and expectations on all employees," Superintendent Raul Maldonado said in a statement. "We will not stop until we know exactly what happened. We will not tolerate this type of behavior in our schools. "
