As votes in the Georgia US Senate special second round continued to be counted until Wednesday morning, three members of the progressive Congressional “Squad” appeared to call the races before the final numbers were counted.

“For every organizer, volunteer, campaign staff, donor and cheerleader who cries tears of joy, we see you and thank you! Rest, you deserve it,” tweeted Rep Ilhan Omar, D -Minn., Before midnight ET with the two Georgia races still close and final.

Earlier, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D, NY, tweeted, “Thanks to an organizer.”

“We put Mitch on the sidelines,” Representative Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. Tweeted prematurely, reflecting that Democrats would have a slim majority (50-50 with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris severing ties) in the Senate if they will participate in both races. (Two senators are actually independents who meet with the Democrats.)

Stacey Abrams, a progressive Georgia elections activist and former gubernatorial candidate, widely credited to Democrats for helping Joe Biden win the state in November, has not gone as far as members of the Squad .

“With new votes joining the tally, we’re on a good track,” Abrams wrote on Wednesday morning. “But even while we wait for more, let’s celebrate the amazing organizers, volunteers, canvassers and tireless groups that have been running continuously since November. All over our state we roared. A few kilometers to go … but bravo!

The races, both biting, continued to come and go and were too close to follow at midnight ET on Wednesday.
