Oscar-nominated producer and screenwriter Gloria Katz has passed away. Katz, 76, reportedly died Sunday in Los Angeles at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after a battle with ovarian cancer.

Katz, her husband William Huyck and filmmaker George Lucas have often collaborated with Katz to write "American Graffiti", "Indiana Jones and the Cursed Temple", "Howard the Duck" and "Radioland Murders".

She and Huyck tweaked the screenplay of the original movie "Star Wars" by writing about 30% of the movie's dialogue. Their biggest contributions have been to add humor and make the character of Princess Leia much more assertive.

She has also co-written "Messiah of Evil", "Lucky Lady", "French Postcards", "Best Defense", and Huyck with him at the helm of four with "Howard the Duck".
