Apple’s MagSafe battery designed for iPhone 12 models was released this week, and Charger Lab took one of the new accessories apart to give us a glimpse of its inner workings.
The disassembly contains detailed information on how the MagSafe Battery Pack works and the role of each component inside. There are two charging coils inside, a shield for heat dissipation and a magnetic ring that allows it to attach to iPhone 12 models.
There are two batteries inside which are connected together, with the previously known energy of 11.13 watt-hours and the voltage of 7.62. Each individual battery is 5.733Wh, based on internal labeling.
On the back of the MagSafe Battery Pack there is a large metal plate to help with heat dissipation. Under the heat shields on the front are all the chips that allow the MagSafe Battery Pack to work.
