Former employees of Republican Senator Ted Cruz are “quite disgusted” by the recent actions of their former boss, according to New York Magazine’s Intelligencer.
At least six of Cruz’s former collaborators have expressed their disgust with the senator’s political stance in recent weeks, the magazine reported.
This behavior, which included peddling election misinformation, rejecting Electoral College certification and sending a fundraising email as a pro-Trump mob raped the Capitol, left a bitter impression of those who have already worked for him.
A former aide told Intelligencer: “Most of Cruzworld are pretty disgusted.”
Another told the magazine: “Everyone is upset with the direction of things, and the longer they have been with the senator, the more disgust they express.”

Since the U.S. Capitol Uprising last week, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas has been charged with inciting violence.
This prompted several Democratic lawmakers to demand that Cruz, along with Senator Josh Hawley, be removed from the Senate.
It also resulted in the resignation of Cruz’s main assistant, Lauren Blair Bianchi. The senator’s communications director resigned because his visions no longer matched his, Punchbowl News reported.
Those who left the Texas senator’s office told Intelligencer they struggled to justify his actions.
A former aide explained: “Personally, it is painful. It sucks. We have always supported it because the country deserves conservative leadership in principle … I would say it had bad luck the Capitol was stormed by a crowd, but in reality he placed himself at the political mercy of others. “
Another former staff member, Amanda Carpenter, told Intelligencer, “I never could have imagined he could have gone down this route.”
Carpenter added that she was shocked that her former boss “would potentially cancel the votes in a way that defies all standards of federalism and constitutionalism.”
During his candidacy for the Republican nomination in 2016, Cruz appealed to conservative voters and sought to contrast himself with President Donald Trump.
This led to a bitter fight, where Trump accused Cruz’s father of being involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and Cruz called him a “pathological liar”.
In recent years, however, Cruz has become one of Trump’s staunchest allies.
Rick Tyler, a former spokesperson for Cruz’s presidential campaign, told Intelligencer it was a sign of his political opportunism. He said: “Ted Cruz will give up on principle, he will give up conservative values for opportunism, and you see him again, but more dangerous.”
Despite Cruz’s widespread criticism, the senator claims that he is trying to “find a way to restore widespread confidence in the system.”
To do so, attend the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden on Wednesday.
