A 17-year-old boy who was abducted from the basement of his own home was found seriously injured on a property about a mile away as three suspects were arrested.
The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night when authorities said an anonymous 17-year-old boy was abducted from the basement of his home in northeast Philadelphia, Pa., According to the station. Philadelphia from ABC News WPVI.
When police arrived at the scene of the crime, the teenager’s family members told authorities that they heard a noise coming from the basement of the family home that sounded like a fight, but when they went to see what was going on, they discovered that the 17-year-old was missing, according to WPVI.
Family members discovered a bullet hole in the basement, but told authorities they did not hear any gunfire at any time during the fight.
The Philadelphia Police Department said the victim’s vehicle was still parked outside the house at the time of the alleged kidnapping and blood and three bullets were also found near the house, according to WPVI.
After conducting their initial investigation, authorities were able to locate the boy using his cell phone, police told WPVI.
“We were able to locate the 17-year-old’s cell phone as far as a property on the 6200 block of Trotter Street,” Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small told WPVI. that it was a gun pickup point. “
Hostage negotiators and a SWAT unit were immediately dispatched to the alleged location of the 17-year-old at around 2 a.m. Monday morning.
Upon arrival, authorities were able to contact three suspects involved in the kidnapping – a man and two women, all in their 20s – before convincing them to leave the property, according to WPVI.
Police entered the premises and found the 17-year-old bleeding profusely and suffering from bruises to his face and head while he was unconscious and unconscious.
The teenager was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries and was reunited with his family after the three-hour ordeal.
Authorities say they don’t yet know the motive for the kidnapping, but confirmed to WPVI they believe the teenager has a background with at least one, if not all, of the three suspects involved in the case.
The Philadelphia Police Department was able to identify the three people involved in the kidnapping with the help of the victim and they were later arrested and taken into custody where they are awaiting charges. The investigation is currently ongoing and it is not clear whether the suspects have retained legal assistance at this time.
