Telegram Update Adds At Least 10 New Features

[ad_1]

Telegram Today is rolling out a huge update with features that touch everything from video calls to auto-deleting messages to audio in screen sharing and video playback speeds. They even changed the drawing tool and added more animated emoji. It’s a big one!

The new version is Telegram 7.9.0 and it has already hit my Android device. If you are a Telegram user, head over to Google Play now and I bet you will see it too.

Alright, so here’s everything new!

New telegram features

Group Video Calls 2.0, which is a really clunky implementation that involves audio chat for some reason, now allows up to 30 video streams and 1000 viewers. Telegram says they plan to continue to extend this limit more and more. But seriously, can we just get a video chat button and not have to create a group and then open an audio chat and then get video feeds? It’s weird, the developers at Telegram.

Video messages 2.0 have been added and they provide higher resolution videos, as well as expandable keys to see more. Telegram also allows you to pause / rewind / fast forward video messages, use the audio on your device when recording them, and pinch to zoom while recording with the rear camera.

Video playback speeds now include options of 0.5x, 1.5x and 2x. To change them while watching a video, press the 3-dot menu button and select the appropriate speed. Also, if there is a place in a video that you want to time stamp for someone else, responding with that time adds a link that can be shared elsewhere with the time stamp.

Screen sharing with sound has been added for individual calls, which means audio from your device can be played back to the person on the other end. To share your screen during a video call, just press the camera button and select your screen as the source.

Automatic deletion of messages has a new 1 month option. It used to have 1 day or 1 week, but now when you tap the 3 dot menu in a chat and then tap “Clear History”, you will be able to choose 1 month to keep the chats a little longer.

The media editor offers more precision in your retouching when you want to draw on an image. When you’re going to draw and want to change the brush width, you drag the point on the color bar up from the picker. The brush width also decreases if you zoom in on an image that you are editing.

For Telegram desktop users, the photo editor now allows you to crop, rotate or flip images, and you can add designs or stickers as well. Also, if you want to send these desktop edits in higher quality, you can send them as uncompressed files.

Bonus additions:

  • the password screen has better animations and is “sharper” than ever
  • You can now practice your two-step verification password for some reasons
  • If you don’t have a recovery email and you forget your password, a new password reset option allows you to recover your account, but it may take up to 7 days
  • IOS users get a new integrated camera
  • Look at him cute new animated emoji below
