Terry Rozier tries to compliment Kyrie Irving, does not succeed at all

Celtics goaltender Terry Rozier was on the morning episode. Get up, We were asked in a face-to-face interview what it was to play with Kyrie Irving, the Celtics mercury star, who spent most of the season doing everything in his power to alienate his teammates. Rozier immediately answered the question with a direct compliment: "He's a great guy, a great leader." From there, things went off the rails.

Here's what Rozier said just after calling Irving "a great leader":

You just have to adapt to his style. All that Kyrie wants to do, he'll show it, that's what he wants to do. And you have to adapt to his style of play and how he approaches every game and every day.

None of this shouts me "great leader", but Rozier had the chance to clear things up when Mike Greenberg urged him to explain how the Celtics managed to adjust to Irving's style. He had this to say:

I think the guys understood that, especially towards the end of the season. As I said, we would get into the game and it would be a different game plan from the one we were expecting and followed at the training, so it was like that. 39 was just different.

And just in case you thought that Rozier was just caught off guard and was revealing more than he expected, he spent the rest of the morning in the ESPN car wash and prepared some spikes for Gordon Hayward and Brad Stevens. First take:

These are certainly the words of a guy who loves his team and who really hopes to continue playing with the Celtics for years.
