Nothing official either emerges from this effort.
Things are starting to move for Tesla in Israel
A year later, we learn that Tesla has obtained an official license to import its vehicles into the country.
Globes, an Israeli newspaper, reports:
“US electric car maker Tesla begins 2021 as the official importer of cars to Israel. Sources inform “Globes” that Tesla has received a license from the Ministry of Transport for commercial imports of its vehicles, allowing it to start a full import operation with no volume limit. So far, Tesla has operated in Israel as a “small importer”, allowing it to import up to twenty vehicles, mainly for testing. This is the first time that an automaker has received a license to import and market vehicles directly in Israel, rather than through a local dealership or in partnership with a dealership. “
With the new authorization, Tesla is expected to start taking orders in the country for deliveries later this year soon.
Tesla is expected to first open orders for the Model 3, which is expected to start at NIS 250,000 (equivalent to around $ 78,000) after taxes and import duties.
