Tesla Manufactures Hepa Filter With “Biological Weapons Defense Mode” Standard On Model Y Electric SUV

Tesla manufactured its Hepa filter with the standard “Bioweapons Defense Mode” on new Model Y electric SUVs produced at Fremont Factory.

With the Model X and later the Model S, Tesla started installing huge Hepa air filters inside their vehicles.

The idea is that Tesla strives to develop a more powerful air filtering system in order not only to help reduce local air pollution with electric vehicles but also to reduce the direct impact of air pollution on the occupants of its vehicles.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk thanked Google co-founder Larry Page for putting him on the idea.

The automaker claims that the Model X’s filter is about 10 times the size of a normal car filter and is “100 times more effective than high-end automotive filters” because it removes “at least 99, 97% of fine particles and gaseous pollutants. , as well as bacteria, viruses, pollen and mold spores.

When running at full throttle, Tesla claims it’s powerful enough to protect against a bioweapon attack, hence the mode’s name.

Musk said Tesla didn’t have space in the Model 3 for a Hepa filter large enough to operate the “biological weapons defense mode,” but the larger Model Y does have space.

Tesla first introduced the filter and bioweapon defense mode in electric SUVs produced in China.

Over the past month, Tesla upgraded the Model Y produced at Fremont Factory to the new, larger filter.

Rustam Kocher shared a photo of the new Model Y air filter housing:

It appears that all new Model Y vehicles delivered to North America are now equipped with the new Hepa air filter, which allows the highest level of air filtration.

This is a welcome new feature for the Model Y produced in North America, but the vehicle has received several price increases over the past year.

The base Y Long Range model went from $ 50,000 to $ 54,000 in the first half of the year.
